I remember when I got the list of things that I would need for college. A Texas Instruments graphing calculator was on the list. I still have that calculator here somewhere. And it still works!  I just saw the dang thing the other day, but when I tried to find it for this post today of course I could not. Hmph. Anyhoo, we are talking about a 17 year old calculator. Yes, I just totally dated myself. But the thing is still ticking! I used to love to do all kinds of fancy things with it.

I am LONG past my days of loving math and graphs, but I still do love gadgets. So, I was happy to review the rocking new TI-Nspire Graphing calculator and give you the opportunity to win one just in time for the start of school! You can save a bundle!

This is NOT your average calculator. This massive beast has a large clear screen, interchangeable keypad, USB connector, Touchpad, and more. I won’t pretend to even remember how to do fancy graphs! It has been a LONG time. But every option you can possible need is here. It comes with a large easy to read manual to get you started. And if you are a heavy user, you can ditch AA batteries for an approved Texas Instruments rechargeable battery pack to keep the computations going.

Some other notable features include:

  • Interchangeable Keypad: It comes with the default TI-Nspire keypad, but that be changed. As a matter of fact, there is a note on the package to mail in to receive the TI-84 keypad for FREE. This is what most schools are asking for, so you will meet requirements.
  • USB connector: Connect your TI-Nspire to your computer to use the included software to develop your graphs, etc. even more using your PC.
  • Highly customizeable: Change font size, language, sleep mode, and more
  • Ability to link the TI-Nspire to another TI-Nspire to back up and share files

There is much much more that this great calculator can do. Now, how can you win it? It’s simple!

THE PRIZE PACK

  • A new TI-Nspire with Touchpad – this also includes the new computer software so students can bring their graphing calculator experience to a PC or Mac.
  • 60 free minutes at Tutor.com.
  • Several other fun items, including T-shirts, water bottles and cell phone charms.

Hey Kris – I’d give the calculator to my nephew (at UAPB) or my niece (Senior in HS). I’ve been out of work for a long while, so I haven’t been able to get the all stocked up with school supplies as I have done in years past. Also, the 60 minutes free tutor would save me an hour with trying to help them with math and biology over the phone!!!

I’d like this calculator because I just started my pre-calculus class in college and everyone has a T.I. calculator but me. Luckily we’ve only taken one test so far but the following tests require a calculator and I’m pretty sure that I’ll fail if I dont get one…Which sucks.

My oldest is in advanced algebra and needs this calculator to begin the journey to calculus later in the semester and then on to HS (!) next year. Would be a great incentive for her to keep up with math, which both her and her sister still love and think is easy. I want to help keep it that way.

Wow!!!!!! Aside from remembering being a kid who needed this type of calculator x years ago (I will NOT date myself), I now find myself being the mother of a junior in high school who needs this calculator. With my son planning to be an engineer, this calculator would save me a few pennies in the coming years. Great post!
