I do a LOT of online shopping. I prefer to shop this way rather than stand in long lines sometimes. I also sometimes love to give gift cards when I am not quite sure what to get. When I heard about SWAGG.com and the accompanying iPhone and Android apps I was eager to try it out.
What is SWAGG?
SWAGG is an app that lets you buy, send, swap and manage gift cards. You can load gift cards that you already own into your SWAGG app and free up space in your wallet. You can also use you cell phone to check out at SWAGG retailers. Simply hand your phone to the clerk and she can scan the code, or enter the number for payment.
Setting up the account and iPhone App was quick and easy. The coolest thing about the app is that you can very quickly send SWAGG (aka a gift card) to a recipient and you don’t even have to choose the store. They can choose the store where they want to spend their SWAGG themselves.
Download and Help Fight Cancer
And right now, for every copy of the SWAGG app that is downloaded to an iPhone Android phone, $1 gets donated to the Stand Up to Cancer organization. Click to download or check the App store or Android Market from your mobile phone.
I love the idea of being able to load cards that you may already have into the app so that you don’t have to carry them around. Then, you are able to easily check balances. This is usually done by visiting a website and entering the long card number, or dialing an 800 number to get your balance.
One thing that I think needs improvement is that all of the stores need to be listed on the website, or in the app. I found it only displayed a few, and you have to search for the rest. However, the app is still very new. Perhaps, this feature will be added soon.
Now.. go get some SWAGG!
Disclosure: I received $20 SWAGG bucks for this post. All opinions are my own.
