The Travel Madness has Begun

June 4, 2011 by Kris McDonald Leave a Comment

You may remember that I went to Vegas in January for CES, and then flew right away to Detroit for the Ford Green event. February – April proved to be fairly calm for travel. But, with May… the madness begins!

I just got back from Gleek Retreat up in Holland, MI which is a BEAUTIFUL little town. I wish that I had more time to just walk around there and take pictures, but we had to get back on the road and part of the time the weather was a little bad.

Next up on the agenda is the Type-A Parent Conference where I am heading up the Tech Bloggers Tribe session with Lucretia Pruitt. I still don't have all my travel arrangement nailed down for that. The past 2 years I road tripped it, but I don't think that I'll be doing that that year. I need to check and see if anyone else from Chicago is planning to drive down. And, I may need to get a roommate. Sigh…

UPDATE: I got a driving buddy and a couple of roommates. YES!

AND, Kelby asked me to co-lead the Asheville photo walk which I am excited to do. πŸ™‚ I may have to brush up on my camera lingo first. I know how to use my own camera and take decent pics, but if I have to explain why the apeture, iso, and the white balance should be blah, blah, blah, I don't want to sound like an idiot. πŸ™‚

I am kind of bummed. Ford is doing another Ford Green event this month, but I had to decline because it overlaps the first day of Type-A. And I do not want to miss that day. It is full of GREAT sessions. I also turned down an outing with Bosch Home Appliances last month because it was over my boys 5th birthday. And they would not have been too happy with me if I was gone for their birthday. There will be other trips. πŸ™‚ PLENTY of other trips!

In July, I don't have to travel, but I will still be busy. Β I plan to attend the Brand Blogger Summit here in Chicago. And the week after that is my ChiTown Mom's Nite Out event that I am so excited about.

In August, I'll be speaking at Blogher in San Diego! AND I'll be a co-host at the “Ladies Who Tech” brunch with the Clever Girls. I am so excited to get to go there and very excited to have been asked to speak! At the end of August I'll be hosting the Blogalicius in Chicago meetup which should be awesome.

So far that is all the major things on my schedule for this year. But, we never know what may come up from day to day. Right? I have a couple of other exciting things that I will be working on here at home. I'll announce when those kick off. πŸ™‚

Right now I feel pressured to get a couple of unfinished projects done in the next couple of weeks before I had off to Type-A. AHHH!!!!

Wish me luck! Whew.
