I really feel like I did not get the memo. Yes, I have a Pinterest Account. But, if you look at my page you will see there is not much there. Why? I am not sure. I don’t really get the whole “OMG…. I lose hours a day browsing Pinterest” thing. And you know what? I’m glad! I have enough distractions in my day. I really do. From kids to Google Talk to the telephone to Netflix to Google Music… there are plenty of other things that keep me away from work. I don’t need the pretty photos of Pinterest doing the same. Yes, I can admit that it almost happened a couple of times…. almost! But I am strong!!
However… I also understand that Pinterest is a now a very valuable social media tool. I’m sure that I will get around to it… one day. I think I had a Twitter account for several months (thanks Kelby) before I ever really used it. I guess I am selective in my social media addictions. (HA HA). I don’t quickly jump on the bandwagon just because everyone else does. Ok, sometimes I do. π
But ummm… where was I? Oh… I take my time, check it out.. and eventually it clicks and I say to myself “Ok. This is how I am going to make this work for me.” I think I get a much better understanding of things that way. I think. I plan. And THEN I jump in. Usually…. π
There are many people and companies using Pinterest in an awesome way. People are very visual. They are drawn to pretty pictures. It is a great tool for bringing attention to your content in an interesting way. Of course the key is to not overdue it. Don’t make every link on your board from your own blog. That is just not cool. AND… don’t make every link an affiliate link. Also, not cool.
Want to show me a what you are doing with Pinterest? Leave a link below and I will follow so when the feeling to suddenly become addicted hits me, I will be sure to check out your boards! I am at http://pinterest.com/littletechgirl/.

I gotta say most of the Pinterest stuff is too cutesy. I can’t say I have looked for any DIY stuff. The few recipes I tried did not turn out very tasty – upon searching back, I realized some key ingredients had been left out. So, yeah, all the women in my family are into it and I guess I just don’t get it.

I love, love, LOVE Pinterest but I have to admit that my obsession with it has fallen off a bit. I just don’t have time to peruse it much these days, though I’m sure that’ll change once I’m on maternity leave. π I do love being able to go back and reference things I saw/learned on there, like recipes, DIY projects, guides, etc.
