XBox One
Just a few days ago the XBox One was launched with a vengeance. This is the first new model XBox console since fall of 2005, and boy were we waiting! The new interface and hardware adds many improvements to the current model. Microsoft built on the fact that we now do more with our gaming consoles than just play games. They are now entertainment devices. Yes, you can stream movies on the XBox 360, but when you do it is kind of clear that it was not designed with that purpose in mind, navigation can be a bit counterintuitive. With a completely redesigned interface the XBox One makes navigating your online content such as Netflix, Hulu, and the like a breeze. You can also rent movies, or stream content from devices in your home.
As mentioned, the XBox One is made for entertaining. You can actually plug your cable box directly into it and use it to control and record content direct from your cable provider. And believe it or not the XBox allows multitasking. Switch between TV, a movie, and a game, or even display them side by side. And if you can even use it for Skype video.
The XBox One also caters to multiuser households. Each user can have their own home screen that bears a striking resemblance to the Windows 8.1 Start screen. Your home screen can contain only the content that you care about. This would be tops in my household. I now have scores in all kinds of games thanks to my kids always playing with my profile. LOL.
The specs on the XBox One might just be better than those in your current desktop computer. The XBox one has an 8-core processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. It is a powerhouse. That is plenty of power for gaming and entertainment.
There is so much more to be said about the XBox One. I’m hoping to be able to try one out soon. Meanwhile, check out the XBox One homepage for more information.
