The Microsoft Envisioning Center

I have saved the best for last. This was my 2nd time touring the Envisioning Center. This place is all about the home of the future. If you have dreamed of a kitchen that talks to you, tells you exactly what is missing from your fridge, helps you with recipes by connecting you with a famous chef, or detects when a pot is on the stove and starts it at the right temp, this is where you need to be.

The kitchen was probably my favorite space, but that is just the beginning. The office/craft space used 3D printing technology paired with a Kinect to complete projects, and build objects.

The living room is equipped with a huge wall television that lets you watch a movie, or connect with relatives. The demonstration that we received was one of an interactive storybook. Imagine being out of town and being able to call your kids and read them a bed time story that comes to life around them with the help of special ceiling projectors, and lighting.

There was also a prototype of a store where we can lay an object on a special table, get specifications, uses, and prices on the object and purchase it right there.

Check out the video below to see some of what we got to checkout.  Some of this is possible now. Others I cannot wait until some of these items actually come to life. And we know that it is coming. It it just a matter of time.
