Cool Gadgets from the International Housewares Show

Pots, pans, spoons, coffee makers, bread makers, and mixers… Oh my!! Yesterday was Day 1 of the International Home and Housewares Show here in Chicago. It was my 2nd year attending. I think I’m addicted now. I love kitchen gadgets almost just as much as I love computer gadgets. And I am a mother to 4 hungry kids, so anything that can make cooking easier and more fun is ok with me! Plus I LOVE to cook, so I love trying out new things in the kitchen.  Below are some of the cool things that I saw at the show yesterday.

The Keurig K10 Mini Plus: If you already love the original Keurig single serve coffee makers you will love this one. Now available in several beautiful colors, this can add a splash of color to your kitchen.

The Rollie EggMaster Vertical Grill: This is brilliant!!! You pop in a few ingredients and up pops breakfast. We tried it with eggs and cooked bacon, and then cinnamon rolls.

But each unit comes with a cookbook full of over 20 recipes. At less than $25 this is perfect for making a quick breakfast for kids before heading out of the door.

The SodaStream Fountain Jet Home Soda Maker: I missed out on my chance to snag one of these when I had to drop out of attending a blogger function at the Housewares Show back in 2012. Several blogging friends have reviewed them. Believe it or not this was my first time trying soda from a SodaStream! The unit uses plain water (tap, bottled, etc.) and infuses it with CO2 to create sparkling water. You can have it that way, or add one of many flavors.

I was served the Strawberry Daiquiri Flavor from one of the new single serve cups. It was yummy!! I had heard the the cola-type syrup in some of the flavors is a bit sweet. I think if I got one I would stick with the light flavors.

The Miracle-Gro AeroGarden ULTRA Indoor Garden with Gourmet Herb Seed Pod Kit: I have an addiction to fresh herbs. My favorites to use are Thai basil, mint leaves, cilantro, and rosemary. Last summer I even tried to get some plants going…. but that is a story for a longer post! I am seriously wanting one of these! The AeroGarden is said to grow twice as fast as starting seeds on its own. And it looks pretty darn cool too. 🙂

It’s not a gadget, but the INTEX Inflatable Chaise Lounge Chair w/ Ottoman makes for a very comfy place to sit and play with your gadgets! The blow up chair is addictive to sit in. Since it is full of air it just cradles you when you sit down. It is a lot more comfy and durable than a bean bag. I think I need one asap.

The International Home and Housewares Show is taken place at McCormick Place through Tuesday. While not open to the public, you can still hear about the cool things going on from me and other media attending the show. I’ll be back tomorrow, so I will have much more to show you!
