Communication in business is one of those problem areas that businesses are quick to dismiss or put down at the bottom of the list when it comes to priorities.

However, communication is quite possibly one of the most important parts of your business. You should be doing everything possible to improve communications for the sake of your business and employee satisfaction.

There are many ways where you can improve communications to keep your employees happy and ensure your organization is meeting all of its benchmarks for 2023. Here are a few tips that might help!

Use the right software for team management

The right software is crucial when it comes to your team management. Whether they work remotely, in a hybrid setting or fully in the office, team management software is great for keeping everyone in the loop.

As a manager, it can be helpful to have such a tool in place that makes management a little bit easier to handle. For those that might have mobile or remote staff members, a field service management platform might be the most effective to put in place.

Such a platform as this one is great for monitoring your staff members, where they are and what progress they’re making throughout their working day. It’s also a central platform for storing customer data and enabling team members to order from relevant suppliers when required.

Always be available to communicate

When it comes to team comms, it’s essential that every team member is available to communicate. A platform like Slack is helpful to have when it comes to real-time communication. It can also show each team member when they’re available and when they may be away from their desks; i.e. on a lunch break or collecting the kids from school.

Encouraging those open channels of communication across your whole workforce is going to ensure everyone is being kept on the same page at all times. It means that any staff member can get in touch with another team member when they need to and hopefully get a quick enough response that it doesn’t compromise their own efforts.

Make use of video conferencing for meetings

Talking of software for communication, video conferencing has been a lifesaver for many businesses over the years, especially during the pandemic. Video conferencing is still being used, especially as so many businesses have embraced a hybrid working environment.

There are plenty of video conferencing platforms to make use of whether that’s through Skype, Zoom or some newer tools that have cropped up on the market over the years.

Try to make use of video conferencing at all meetings whether most staff are working from home or working in the office. It’s important that you’re utilizing this technology to its full advantage, especially when it comes to keeping everyone connected.

With video conferencing, you can always record important calls so that people who are away from the meeting, can catch up on all the details at a later time.

Integrate all of your technology efficiently

There are lots of tools and technology that your business can be using to influence communications and improve efficiency within the workplace. Depending on what tools you use, you’re likely to find that there are a lot of tools that you can integrate together.

When shopping around for online tools to use as a business, take a good look at their third-party integrations. The more that you can loop into one central dashboard, the easier it will be to keep communications and structure in check.

Ask for feedback on improvements

Feedback is always needed when it comes to improving communications. If you’re not asking for feedback or providing it, then your employees might start to feel a little despondent in their jobs. They may also figure that anything they’re doing is correct or isn’t worth assessing.

All of this when it comes to a lack of feedback, might result in more employees leaving the company because they no longer feel valued. That’s not something you want, so make sure you’re giving feedback where it’s due.

Have regular 1-2-1s

Finally, one-to-one meetings are an important part of communication with your staff and these should be had on a regular basis. There should be annual reviews to check in on staff performance but in the meantime, speaking to them 1-2-1 on a weekly or monthly basis is key to workplace happiness in general.

Improving your business communications is essential so make sure you’re using these tips to improve them this year.
