I have been using it for a few months and I do love it. I love the ability to have visitors login with several different options, Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, etc. I also love having a central repository of all comments from all my sites in one place, as well as all my own comments that I have left around the web.
Then, after my Giveaway: Nintendo DSi + 2 Games! ($210 value!) post racked hundreds of comments, I realized that I would have a hell of a time choosing a winner due to there not being any comment numbers next to each comment. I wrote to support and asked if this was possible. It seems like a simple hack of code to me, but they say that it is not possible. I tried it based on some web notes that I found on adding numbers to your themes in WordPress, but it did not work on Disqus. Booo!!! So, unless I find some way to export my comments nice and neat to Excel format to put a number next to earth, fairly choosing a winner is close to impossible.
I’ll be using Greg’s Threaded Comment Numbering to get the job done with a couple of hacks to my theme. So, please hang in there while I get it done. I will have to export all my current comments from Disqus and reimport them into my WordPress. Yes, I will back everything up first. ๐ Some day, if they add the ability to number the comments I may return to it.

I was deciding on how I would track entries for a future giveaway. Normally I use googledocs forms, cause it’s easy for everyone. So many people used comments for Blogmania and BlogFest (which I hated as an entrant when there were a billion and one ways to get entries, btw), I thought I’d use it for my contest since there’s only the initial entry and then a tweet entry. The first thing I did was check for numbered comments. ๐
We’ll see how that goes.
Aw, BOOOOOO!! I like Disqus as a commenter for the same reasons. I hope they can work it out for you.
I shut off Intense Debate (similar to Disqus) for the same reason + for some people, it makes it harder to comment especially on their phones because they prefer to have a form that autosaves their info. I miss having the comment love and other functions.
Hey Kris. It’s incredibly easy to put numbers next to your Disqus comments. Sorry that we told you otherwise. You can just add CSS to make the list of comments numbered instead of unstyled.
Hi Daniel! Really? That does sound like the way to get it done. FYI, it was in the Get Satisfaction Forum where I asked. I will poke around and see if I can do this now.
Thanks so much for your comment.
Hi Daniel, I was trying it over on my test blog but having no luck. Can you give me a little guidance?
Thanks again!
Hi Kris,
Just sent you an email, if you have any other question you can reach us at help@disqus.com
Thanks! However… I do not seem to have an email from you. I have checked junk mail and everywhere. Not sure where/how you sent it, but can you please forward it to littletechgirl AT gmail.com? Thanks much! And thanks for the help address.
Sure! Could you email me at daniel@disqus.com?
