Brave for LeapFrog Explorer & Tag Review

A few weeks ago my kids and I were treated to a pre-screening of Brave. I enjoyed it, although my kids thought it was a bit scary. Now of course Brave items are popping up all over. Merida and her wild, beautiful, red hair are catching on. And it is for good reason. As most Disney movies, the story teaches us some useful lessons about family.

One of the items recently released in the theme of the movie is a Disney Pixar Brave Game for Explorer, which also works with our LeapPad and the Disney Pixar Brave Book for the Tag system. I am a big fan of both items. Let’s start with the Brave storybook.

My boys are 6, so they are reading already. But, they definitely still struggle with some words. I love that the Tag can let them read on their own, but then if they have trouble with a word they can use the Tag pen to touch the word and it will read it. There is also the option of letting the tag pen read the whole story, or using it to point at words in the book for the whole story. This is a great way to for little ones to learn to read.

I enlisted the help of Jayden to review the storybook. He was already familiar with the tag system, so it was easy for him to pick up on what to do. He settled down with the book and was reading along and using the tag pen in no time. Ā I listened to the story as well. I love that Merida sounds just like she did in the movie.

Although he knows how to read, he loved being able to have the Tag pen read him the whole story. He got comfy and enjoyed.

Then boys also tried out the Brave game for Leapster Explorer and LeapPad. When Jayden was asked what he thought about the game he said “it was hard”. LOL!!! I tried it out for myself and it was not so bad. šŸ™‚ AĀ narratorĀ guides Merida through missions to collect objects that help her save Mum.

The graphics are great, and look very much like the movie. The game does take some patience, but this is something that all kids need to learn anyway. LOL!

Overall we loved both products. My boys have played with it several times since the initial review.

If your kids loved the movie Brave, and love their Leapster Explorer or LeapPad, they will love the Brave game for Explorer and Brave Storybook for Tag.
