Online Music Streaming. It’s fun, it’s easy, and you can do it anywhere. I am an avid listener. I listen to music while I work, clean, or write. And, of course everything on the web is about sharing now. There are Facebook LIKE buttons all over the web, so that your friends instantly know what you are doing. You can check-in when you get to your favorite store or restaurant. And, on various websites you can share what you are watching, or listening to.
Soundtrckr is an app for iPhone that allows you to create music playlists and share them with your friends. The app allows you to connect to Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare. You can broadcast what stations and songs you are listening to, allowing your friends to instantly see your music tastes. The app also allows you to find and invite your friends from Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail (Windows Live Mail).
When I connected with my Facebook account, it showed me right stations that my friends had setup, which right now is only 1. I’m sure there will be more soon. Especially since I just shared the app on my Facebook page.
Yes, that’s right… I created a Prince station. 🙂
The sharing on this app is really cool in that I can setup a station here on my iPhone in Chicago, share it with a friend in LA and we can listen along to the same stream in real-time. I bet teens would love that feature!
The Nearby Stations feature allows you to see what others around you are listening to. Clicking on the station shows you the user that set it up. Who knows, you might discover some new friends with your musical tastes. If you decide that you love their musical tastes, you can follow them similar to Twitter. You can even chat.
Here is a video that gives a great demo of the app:
The FREE Soundtrckr App is available in the App store. It is also available on Windows Phone 7, Nokia S3 and S60, and in the Google Chrome Store.
