When driving through central Indiana, I always marvel at the huge field of windmills that go on for miles. They look very ominous at night. I wonder why exactly they are there. What do they do? How do they work? They produce wind power. This is a cool way to produce energy. I want to learn more about the technology behind them. I want to know more about the future of energy.
Here is a video that tells you a little more about it:

I probably find them too interesting. I have taken way too many pictures of them. 🙂 Secretly I wish that there were several of them outside my house. Why? Because my dang electric bill is too much! Especially in the summer when the air conditioner is going full blast. The cost of energy usage has gone way up in the past few years just like everything else. But, unfortunately we cannot live without it.
Well guess what? It is now possible to have a Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) of your very own. How cool is that?? This would would obviously be smaller than the huge things in the rural wind farms, but it still gets the job done.
I think all the time about how to save money on bills at home, but it sometimes seems like there is nothing that can done because you need those necessities. So, anything that you can do to save a few pennies here and there is awesome.
If you have the means and thing that you want wind power for your home, check out Sauer Energy.
