I Finally Made a List!!

Some folks out there on that thing called the internet think that you have not made it until you have made a list! Well, I am happy to report that I finally made one! It is a decent list too. Not bad if I do say so myself!

Black Enterprise included yours truly on their list of 20 Black Women in Tech You Need to Follow on Twitter. I am number 19, but I made it! LOL! The list is a follow-up to a Huffington Post article,  Women in Tech You Need to Follow on Twitter. That list included only 2 Black women, so Black Enterprise wanted to show that there are more of us out there. And, I will be honest, when reading the Huffington Post list I had only heard of a couple of the women on the list. However, Twitter is a HUGE place. It is easy to not know so many! I will be checking them all out, as well as the ones that I did not know on the list where I am included.

I was very honored to be included. Some of the others on the list are some that I have tweeted with and met in person. It’s a great group of ladies if I do say so myself. I think this is just the beginning of women in technology. I’ve been doing this for a LONG time. I’ve been in tech where I am since 1997. And I was my own home computer nerd before that. But for a long time I was one of the only females in my department. Going out to lunch with 10 other guys was a normal thing. But now, I am planning tech lunches and breakfast with other girls!!! It is sooo cool!

We are just getting started ladies. 🙂
