There are some of us who have had no problem adapting to the using the new touch screen only phones that have become so popular. Others have held on to the need to have a hardware based keyboard to be happy with their phone. The myTouch 4G Slide on T-Mobile by HTC is for all of us. It has a hardware based QWERTY keyboard + the typical Android touch keyboard that some of us love.
That is just one of the features that make this phone a great option. Personally, I don’t need the hardware keyboard. And if some have that same thought, you can opt for the myTouch 4G which is touch only.
The myTouch 4G Slide runs Android 2.3.4 with HTC Sense version 3.0. HTC has so far been my favorite implementation of the Android OS. The UI is clean, easy to use, and I just love the clock. LOL!
Also, the phone has a pretty good form factor. Usually when I use a hardware slide out keyboard the keys are too small and too close together. On this one the spacing is good and the keys are a decent size for typing without a bunch of mistakes.
My Favorite Feature
My fav feature is definitely the camera! The camera on this phone is outstanding. It is fast, has many features and the quality is awesome. And it has burst mode!! Plus, there is a side button on the camera which is my opinion in a must. It makes it super easy to snap a pic and one touch will wake up the phone to take a shot even if locked. Also, the focus works very well. Engadget did a great write-up with lots of sample photos taken with the camera. Unfortunately, I have not ventured out to take any very interesting pics. I did use it to take some pics of a few things interesting to me, like… my new bag. 🙂
Here is an awesome one from the Engadget post:

- Good Form Factor
- Nice Screen
- Great Camera
- Good Keyboard
- Great “Quick Settings” tab added to the usual notifications drop down
Cons
- It’s a bit heavy
- A bit hard to use with one hand (small onscreen keyboard)
Overall this is an awesome phone for someone who wants to make the switch to an Android Smartphone and hang on to their keyboard addiction. The implementation of Android on the phone works very well. And T-Mobile service is fairly good, at least in my area. 🙂
Another great phone in the T-Mobile 4G line-up is the HTC Sensation 4G, which comes preloaded with HTC Watch™ and T-Mobile® TV. HTC Watch™ gives you access to a huge selection of Hollywood blockbusters. And with T-Mobile TV, you get live TV and video on demand, such as The Daily Show, ABC Mobile, and ESPN Mobile TV :-).
Disclosure: The phone was loaned to me for review. All opinions are my own.
