In the massive world of smartphones there are a lot of Android phone options out there. Some are made to be powerhouses with video and boast about their large screens. Others boast about being social phones that keep you in touch with your friends. And still others are made to be easy. Well, the HTC Rezound is all about the sounds. This phone is infused with Beats by Dr. Dre audio. That means you can ditch your iPod and use your Rezound to deliver a full music experience to your ears.

The phone comes ready to go with a set of iBeats earbuds. These are NOT your typical low end earbuds that usually come with smartphones. These little babies alone retail for $99. And yet, you get them with the HTC Rezound.

The sound on this phone is phenomenal. It comes with a built-in Music app, Pandora, Slacker Radio, and V-Cast Music all pre-installed. All you have to do it start up an app and listen. Of course you can also copy some of your own music to the device. Or do what I do and download and install the Play Music (Google Music) app which allows you to stream your whole library without having to copy files. But with the included 32gb of space (which can be upgraded) there is plenty of space for your files.
In addition to being great on sound the Rezound has an awesome camera. This one has some cool features that I have not seen in many other smartphone cameras. Like many point & shoot cameras and a few phones you can set grayscale, or sephia effects. But on the Rezound you can also choose Distortion, Vignette, Depth of Field, Dots, Vintage, Vintage Warm, and more. It can also d0 Panorama shots, and Action Bursts.

Normal 8MB

The Depth of Field option lets you use a slider to choose the amount of the affect. I was pretty impressed with the result. Depth of Field is always one of my favorite things to play with.

The phone is indeed a powerhouse with a 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. Add to that Verizon’s super fast 4G network and you have a great phone for data on the go. I ran a few speed tests on the Rezound. Check out these results:
I just wish the Verizon data plans were not so expensive. I would be there in a moment. From what I have seen when testing the Verizon 4G speeds blow all of the other carriers away. I guess they know this and that is why they can charge what they do.
Although the Rezound is running Android 2.3.4 when some others are now loading their phones up with 4.0 it is still a great phone.  The word on the web is that the Rezound will soon be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. This phone is perfect for the music lover and photo bug.
The Rezound can be purchased with a Verizon contract for $199.
Disclosure: This phone was loaned to me in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
