Motorola Wine, Cheese, & Tech Recap + More About the Photon Q

November 6, 2012 by Kris McDonald Leave a Comment

Wine, Cheese, & Tech

As previously mentioned I recently hosted a fun evening full of tech talk and wine for several friends to discuss the awesomeness that is the Motorola Photon Q. Weather may have gotten the best of some, but it turned out great. It was a small, intimate group so that left us a lot of time to really chat and learn about the phone… and wine! The event was held at Cru in downtown Chicago. Cru is an awesome, intimate wine bar. We got to taste several varieties, each of which was explained to us during tasting. We also poked fun at the fact that during a *real* wine tasting you are supposed to swish and spit. Yeah… none of us were spitting out any wine. 🙂

Bonnie, Kymon, & Sidney

I gave a brief demo of the Photon Q to the group and highlighted some of my favorite features which I mentioned in the last post. We oohed and ahhed over things like Smart Actions, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, and awesome camera make it a really great smartphone.

The Motorola Photon Q

Notable specs:

  • Full QWERTY sliding keyboard
  • 4G LTE
  • 4.3″ LCD screen with ColorBoost
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • 8GB internal storage
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Mobile Hotspot capable (up to 8 devices)
  • 8 megapixel camera
  • 1080p HD video capture

As previously mentioned, the Photon Q has the best of both worlds… an awesome touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard that makes sending out extended messages or emails pleasant for those that have not yet embraced touchscreen usage. Another great feature is the camera. With an 8mb camera it is great as a compact camera replacement. However, some shots did come out a bit blurry. Burst mode allows you to take up to 6 photos in quick succession by holding down the camera button. Best photo mode allows you to take several quick succession from which you can then choose the best shot. It gets rid of the rest.

Here are a couple of shots taken with the Photon Q camera:

The Photon Q runs on the Sprint Network. IT is an 4G LTE device, so as long as LTE has been deployed in your area you can get some good speeds. This helps with web browsing which is a pleasure on the clear screen.

The Motorola Photon Q is an awesome smartphone. The screen, the features, the keyboard… it all makes for a great experience. The Photon Q is FREE right now from Sprint with a new contract. Can’t beat that!

Disclosure: This was a compensated campaign on behalf of Motorola.
