You may be familiar with the Red Mango Frozen Yogurt Chain. It is a unique store that allows you to go in and create your own frozen yogurt creation. They recently opened new stores here in the Chicago area. I visited two different stores in the past few days, the Frankfort, IL location, and the Orland Park, IL location. The first time I was alone. I was passing by and said “Ooh, there is a Red Mango!” It was about 93 degrees outside with a heat index of 100 so I was happy to stop and try out some frozen yogurt. And I was happy to pay a visit and try it out before taking my kids. 🙂 The Frankfort location had almost endless options for mixing different flavors of yogurt. It is self-serve, and tasting is allowed.
I reviewed the options and chose a Pomegranate Lemonade Swirl. I'm not too big on sweet toppings, so I added some fresh almonds, blueberries, and strawberries to the top of mine. It was soooo yummy!

Self-serve Yogurt is priced at .49 an ounce
A couple of days later I visited the Orland Park location with all 4 kids in tow. I still needed to try out a smoothie! I love smoothies. I usually make them here at home. It is so nice to be able to pop in and get a great smoothie without going through the trouble of chopping fruit and washing the blender. I went for the Berry Medley Hibiscus. It is a combination of berries, mango, lychee, and hibiscus blossoms. It was DELICIOUS and energetic.
Meanwhile, the kids all had a ton of fun mixing up different frozen yogurts and putting on their favorite toppings. They had nothing but good things to say about the experience and the yogurt.
- Kayla picking her flavor
- The kids putting on toppings
- Kayla and Kristopher discussing the yummy yogurt
- Alexis enjoying her cold yogurt
- Kristopher says AHHH
- Jayden Enjoying his yogurt
The one thing I would love to see is child size cups so they don't get quite so much yogurt. 🙂
Check out the Red Mango website to find a location near you.

I love Red Mango…..I visit the one in Schaumburg.
Those cups can hold a surprising amount! Now I want frozen yogurt. (Weird. As I typed “frozen yogurt” someone said that on TV. They’re at a Froyo shop.)
