Although it was just in the mid 60s here in Chicago a few days ago, by the end of this week it will be only be in the 20s. Gotta love Chicago weather! As the weather cools down (again) and the holidays draw near many families will gather around the TV to watch their favorite holiday movies.
While some of us take our Netflix memberships for granted, there are still some people that have not taken the plunge! GASP! They don’t know what they are missing! Many families may be thinking about cutting the cords, and expenses associated with cable TV. I completely understand! The cable bill can be a scary thing. Even if you don’t completely get rid of cable, Netflix can be a great way to supplement your cable subscription. Consider getting only the basic service, but not premium movie channels.
So why should you get Netflix? Here are 12 reasons why I love Netflix.
- Binge, binge, binge – Having a Netflix subscription allows me to binge watch shows whenever I want. I have discovered so many great shows that I didn’t know about when they were on TV.
- No commercials – No explanation needed here!
- Great content for kids – My kids love Netflix just as much as I do. They have discovered a ton of great content. Currently I have them addicted to Doctor Who. (Great job Mommy!)
- Profiles – I don’t have to worry about seeing endless cartoons on my recently watched list, because my kids have their own profile. Yes!
- Take it with you – I love that when I travel I can pull up my Netflix account in my hotel room from my phone, tablet, or computer and continue my binge watching during my down time.
- Discover new movies – There are always movies that I have never seen on Netflix. I don’t ever have to worry about not being able to find something to watch.
- Parental controls – Netflix recently increased the functionality of their parental controls. You can now set a PIN number to prevent kids from watching content above the level that you set.
- Watch history – Sometimes I find myself telling a friend about a movie that I’ve watched recently, but I cannot remember the name. A quick look in my Netflix watch history and the mystery is solved!
- Ability to watch on more than one screen – My Netflix membership allows us to watch on 2 screens at once. This is awesome in a house full of kids and means that there will be no fighting over what to watch. I can watch a movie upstairs while my kids watch something else in the family room.
- Search by actor – Have a favorite actor? You can simply type his name into the search field and find all movies available.
- Tons of sci-fi content – I love my sci-fi shows and movies, and Netflix has plenty of them to choose from.
- Piece and quiet – When we have family movie night, we are all gathered around the television enjoying a movie and it’s quiet. Ahhh!!!
