We have already established that technology is here to stay. And parents need to embrace the fact that their kids need to know and use technology to make it in the world. Having tech skills will help them in school, future jobs, and help them become a well rounded person. However, it is all about balance.
Deciding what tech to get your kids can sometimes be daunting. If you purchase a regular “adult” tablet you have to worry about installing parental controls, possibly finding a program to limit times that they can play, and secretly worrying about what they are doing, what they downloading, who them might be messaging, and what they are watching. I’ve been there. I’ve tested and fought with many programs… and it is stressful.

The nabi SE tablet takes all of the guesswork and frustration out of gifting your child a tablet.

nabi Mode
Although it is a full-fledged Android tablet, it is wrapped in an awesome kid friendly GUI, nabi Mode, which makes it safe to hand to your kids and let them go without wondering what they are doing. While running in nabi Mode, kids access only what you want them to access. It comes with variety of kid friendly games and content installed and ready to go.
As your kids get older, or even if you decide to take over the tablet, it’s as easy to disable nabi Mode turn it into a regular, fully functional Android 6.0 tablet.
The nabi SE tablet can be purchased from Amazon.com.
Parent Mode
As the name states, Parent Mode (or Mommy Mode) allows you to enter a password which unlocks all functions of the tablet. From here you can install apps, change tablet settings, sync tablet data, update the tablet’s OS, change Time Controls, and much more. You can also access the default Android 6.0 functions.
Time Controls
The nabi SE tablet allows you to balance screen time with comprehensive time controls. No more worrying about your child spending too much time on their tablet. Just enter parent mode and open the Time Controls app. From there you can easily set Time Limits, Time Rewards, and Exercise Time. I like that it allows you to not only set the amount of time per day that you child can play, but also a sleep time to prevent nabi use. You can even define this even further by setting time limits for certain apps. This is awesome! That means that you can allow more time in a reading app than you do in games. I really like that it allows you to get that granular.
Time Rewards are given when your child plays with educational apps. Rewards can be more play time, or time with their favorite apps and games. You are also provided with usage reports telling you exactly how much time your child spent playing and in which apps.
Multiple Users
Have more than one child? No problem! The nabi SE allows you to multiple kids and even set the age range of each child for personalized content. Age ranges are 3-5, 6-8, and 9-11.
Included Apps
There are many, many apps included that means your child will be able to start playing and learning right away. Some of the apps include:
nabi Radio – nabi Radio includes several kid friendly stations for your kids to jam out to their favorite tunes. They can choose from Disney Stars, Jrs: Princess, Pop, Jrs: Sing-A-Long, Boy Bands, Girly Dance Party, and many more.
Chore List – Now this is neat. In the back end, in Parent Mode, parents can create a chore list for their child. In nabi Mode kids can access their chore list and get rewarded for marking off completed chores.
Dream Pro Studio – This allows the artist in your child to come out. They can draw, animate, or create a book.
There are way too many apps to list. Plus, you can download and install apps from the Google Play Store. This allows you to customize it just the way you need.
Overall this is a great tablet for kids. However, keep in mind that since it’s made for kids some of the features may not match up to what you are used to in other tablets. For example the screen and camera resolution will not win any awards. 🙂 However, this is a fully working Android tablet that can play a wide variety of games and use a wide variety of apps just like other tablets.
The nabi SE tablet can be purchased from Amazon.com.
