Getting yourself motivated to workout can be a workout in itself: you try fighting all of the excuses you throw at yourself but, alas, you can’t convince yourself you take that jog or jump on that treadmill. It’s okay. You’re not the only one who goes through this.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could somehow make some money while you exercised, though? Would that be the little extra push you need? Then there’s good news. While you’re not going to find a new career doing so, there are several apps out there that will pay you to exercise. If you meet certain conditions, you could earn nearly a hundred extra dollars per week. Here are some of the best apps that will compensate you for your time and effort.
AchieveMint
This app will pay you up to $50 a week just to exercise. It syncs with other fitness apps that you may already be using, like Apple Health and Fitbit, and uses a points system to compensate you for meeting your goals.
You get one dollar for every 1000 points you achieve for up to a max of 50,000 points per week. The goals you must achieve for points vary, from logging in what you eat to walking a certain number of steps each day.
This is a great app to get creative. If you are thinking about buying a home gym, you could use the money you make on AchieveMint each month to pay for the equipment you buy, saving you money out of pocket while exercising at the same time.
HealthyWage
This app doesn’t mess around. If you are serious about dropping pounds — and you are a little bit of a risk taker — then this could be the motivation you need.
HealthyWage takes a bet from you that you will lose a certain amount of weight in a certain amount of time. If you want to lose twenty pounds in three months, then you could bet, say, $40 dollars each of those months. If you meet your weight after those three months, you will get all of your money back plus a prize for doing so. If you fail, though, the app keeps all of your money.
Exciting, isn’t it? Just make sure you are absolutely sure you want to risk real money before joining this app.
DietBet
DietBet is another app that requires you to put in your own money as motivation, but it works a little differently.
With this app, you and other people pool your money into a pot and agree on a certain fitness goal: lose 4% of your body weight in four weeks or 10% in six weeks. At the end of the period, the total pot is split up among the winners. Betting amounts vary and if you lose, you get your money back.
If you want to get rewarded with money for working out, check out these apps.
