I keep teasing that I am going to cut the cord. In fact, just about 2 months ago we did it. We finally did it. After months of mulling it over, we did it. Actually, if I think about it… years of mulling it over. I called the cable folks and I told them to turn it all off! Well… not entirely. I did keep the Internet. We cannot do without that. But, my cable company keeps reeling me back in. However, soon and very soon it is going to happen! And when it does, one of the things that will help me successfully cut the cord is the Google Chromecast Streaming Media Player.
Why Should I Cut the Cord?
That answer is simple… to save money. Our cable bill was ridiculous. We were paying $301 a month… JUST…TO…WATCH…TV!! And there is no way we were watching $300 worth of TV a month. Now, don’t get me wrong. Comcast is the business. We hardly ever had problems with our service. We had a couple of outages here and there, but really nothing to complain about. And the Internet is pretty darn fast. But, the bill was just way too much. And we were paying for tons of services and channels that we were not using.
Full disclosure… our cutting the cord did not last very long, but I am going back. More on that later…
How Can a Google Chromecast Help?
If you have already cut the cord, or you are thinking about cutting the cord consider investing in a Google Chromecast Streaming Media Player. At only $35, you can turn your existing HDMI-enabled television into a smart TV of sorts. A Google Chromecast allows you to stream both video and audio from your smartphone, tablet, or computer to your television. This means that as long as you can access it on the web using Chrome, or from any Chromecast enabled app on your phone or tablet, you can view it on your television. This is awesome for sharing family movies shared on YouTube, watching movies using Netflix, or even showing a presentation video during an office meeting.
What Can I Watch?
Chromecast works with over 2000 streaming apps, some free and some subscription based. So, you will always find something to watch. Enjoy TV shows, movies, videos, songs, games, sports and more from apps like Netflix, YouTube, YouTube TV, and HBO NOW. Check out the Google Chromecast site for a full list of all of the apps.
Works with Google Assistant!
You can even use your Google Home or the Google Assistant on your phone to stream. Just tell Google what you want to watch!
I already have an older Chromecast Audio. I am definitely going to invest in one of these. The Google Chromecast can be purchased for $35 from Best Buy.
