One great thing about living in the Chicago area is that it’s a great place for staycations. We can hop in the car and within one to two hours, if traffic cooperates, be somewhere that feels like out of town. One such place is the newly revamped Oak Brook Hills Resort by Hilton. Last week I attended the ribbon cutting on the newly remodeled property, and I had a blast. I always love learning about new places in the area.
The Oak Brook Hills Resort is nestled in the middle of Oak Brook, IL. Oak Brook is a beautiful bustling town located about 35 minutes West of Downtown Chicago. It is also about 20 minutes from O’hare airport and less than 30 minutes from Midway airport. This makes it a great location for travelers who may want to stay somewhere away from the madness of the city of Chicago. It is also one of the leading resorts in the Midwest region to host getaways, golf events, family vacations, celebrations, business events, meetings, weddings & conventions.
Celebrating 30-years, the resort just underwent a multi-million dollar property revamp. All 386 guest rooms, 39 Suites, and all public spaces have been fully transformed. And the space is absolutely beautiful. I really loved the feel of the lobby space. It’s ready for a party, relaxing, or having a meeting. This is where the ribbon cutting happened. In this space we were treated to entertainment including the one and only “Dean Martin:” ;). He performed for us, and even got a little frisky during his show and took my glasses. Lol. These glasses get a lot of attention…
Anyway, the 150 acre property includes an 18-hole championship golf course, spa, top-notch fitness facilities, meeting spaces, wedding facilities, multiple restaurants, an indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, and more.
We checked out the Tin Cup Bar & Grill which is a sports lover’s dream. The space includes a bar, eating area, and even an adult game room. No kids games here! It is all about the casino style games.
There’s also a golf shop where you can shop before you hit the 18-hole golf course. And there’s even a putting green to practice your swing inside the hotel, or you might opt to throw a few darts.
We saw an adorable, sophisticated wedding room. This room looks perfect for small intimate weddings, or meeting before the big event in one of the larger spaces.
There are 2 pools, one indoor, and one outdoor. And we were told that they keep their outdoor pool open a bit longer in the season for those Indian summer days that we sometimes experience here in the Midwest. The indoor pool is massive, and it is open year round.
There’s also a hot tub in the outdoor area which is open year round. Both the ladies and men’s locker rooms include a dry sauna, so that you can relax after a workout in the very nice fitness center.
As previously mentioned, each of the 386 guest rooms got a revamp. We checked out one of the rooms and it was beautiful. This particular room is surrounded in windows with an awesome view of downtown Chicago and surrounding Oak Brook.
Some of the rooms have views of the beautiful golf course, so no matter which side you are on, you will have a great view. Unfortunately, since the sun now goes down around 4:30 it was dark when we were there, so we didn’t get to see the great views.
However, I will be going back for a staycation one day soon and I look forward to checking out those views and utilizes all of the facilities.
If you are in the Chicago area and looking for a great place to plan a staycation, a romantic getaway, or even a conference check out the Oak Brook Hills Resort. Visit their website for more information or to book your stay.
Disclosure: I was invited to the event and received a certificate for a one-night stay in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
