For the past few months, when my husband and I talk on the phone while he is at work I get annoyed. Why? He is using his old wired iPhone headphones with his Note 9. And… whenever he moves, the cord rubs on his clothes, and I hear a ton of static. We have both said over and over that he needs wireless headphones! I was stoked when Best Buy asked me to review both the Sony WH-XB900N Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones and the Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones.
Both headphones offer noise canceling technology, which is great when trying to listen to your music in a noisy situation including airplanes, or walking outside in the city.
The one that you choose depends on your needs. Here are 2 great options below.
Sony WH-XB900N Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones
If over the ear headphones are your preference, then these are the ones for you. The WH-XB900N headphones are full sized headphones that can be used wirelessly using Bluetooth, or plugged into your phone or stereo using the included Aux cable. And with up to 30 hours of battery life, you do not have to worry about your headphones losing a charge on a long trip.
The WH-XB900N offers rich sound and comfortable fit. The sides of the headphones double as touch controls that allow you to control functions like volume, play/pause, rewind, fast forward, and more.
Quick Attention allows you to quickly turn down the volume by placing your hand over the right headphone. This is awesome for office situations where your coworkers may just walk up and start talking.
My picky DJ husband tried them out and gave them the stamp of approval. I will probably be passing this pair on to him!
Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones
Although we chatted about my husband wanting wireless earbuds, these will be mine. I love the color. Although they call it silver it is more of a beige/blush color. Because of this, hubby didn’t want them. YAYY!!
When it comes to wireless in-ear headphones getting the right fit can sometimes be challenging. And, there is sometimes problem with them actually staying in my ears. These come with several ear cushions so that you can get the right fit. Surprisingly, the default one worked well for me.
I absolutely love that these come with a charging case. I don’t ever have to worry about my earphones not being charged and ready to go.
One thing that I love is that I can opt to wear only one at at time. This is perfect for when I’m driving and need to keep one ear clear. I’ve been experiencing clear calls, and great noise cancelation. However, I have had a few problems with the Bluetooth disconnecting while talking. This seems to be a common issue with a few Bluetooth earphones.
Sony Headphones App
Both sets of headphones are controlled by the Sony Headphones App. The app allows you to adjust advanced settings, pause music, update software, see the battery level, and more.
Whether your flavor is over the ear, or in the ear, Sony has a great pair of headphones that will allow you to enjoy your music, block out noise, and enjoy crystal clear phone calls. Both are available at Best Buy. The WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones are priced at $229.99. The WH-XB900N Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones are priced at $249.99.

I have the XB900N’s to replace my XB950BT’s. I’m very pleased with the upgrade. I’m thinking about getting a pair of the 1000XM3’s for those days I don’t want to use the headphones. I got a pair of the Samsung Buds, but I’m not that thrilled with the sound. They may be relegated to back-ups if I try out the Sony’s and I like them.
