When our kids are young, we think life is hard. Babies need to eat every 2-3 hours, they need diapers changed, and they want to be held all the time. As they get older we think things get easier… and they do… until they all start school and weekend activities! Then, have to worry about kids carpooling, sports, proms, and so much more. GoKid is here to help.
I have 4 kids. Correction… I have 4 teenagers! My girls are 16. They will actually be 17 in April. YIKES!! However, they don’t have their licenses just yet. And even so, they probably will not have their own car for a while.
Even though they have started taking public transportation in some cases, there is still a lot of driving! Depending on the time of year we deal with lacrosse, after school programs, STEM programs, and more. Of course this is in addition to my own working, side jobs, and events. Folks say, “how do you get it all done?” Well, I don’t, but…
One of the easiest ways to get some help in this department is carpooling. My daughter in on a lacrosse team. Of course there are several other players, some live our way. So, after games sometimes I give a couple of players a ride, and sometimes a parent gives my daughter a ride. Most all kid events, have other kids and other parents who are also driving to the games!
What is GoKid?
GoKid is a carpool schedule organizer. It is available on the web, iOS, or Android it and makes carpooling and ride sharing for kids easy and convenient. There is no need to make endless phone calls, or send texts, because your app will be populated with other parents that you know and trust who are ready and willing to give your kids a ride.
This is awesome to me! As a very busy mom with 4 kids I sometimes have to be 3 different places at once. But, I can’t!
Who Needs GoKid?
GoKid was created for “taxicab parents”. Parents that play taxi driver to their kids all the time. This is my life! I’m sure it might be yours too. If you struggle with scheduling rides for your kid, GoKid is for you. Or, even if you want to take turns getting your kids back and forth to school, practice, after school, or weekend activities.
How Does GoKid Work?
GoKid provides an easy way for you to set up carpools with other families you know and trust using the carpool planner app. Instead of spending money each day on expensive ride share, you can schedule a carpool using the app. The included shared calendar keeps everyone on track. No one wants to forget to pick up a kid! When it’s pickup time, the app sends you a reminder.
Want to keep track of your kids? GoKid includes built-in tracking, so that you can see when your kids are picked up and when they arrive safely.
Benefits
- Since less cars are on the road at the same time, GoKid has saved more than 10+ million lbs in CO2 emissions, as well as 6+ million miles in driving and is rolled out in 25 countries.
- We are all used to our GPS now, so GoKid offers route optimization. They map out the optimal route to pick up and drop off each child in the carpool so whichever parent is driving, they know where to go.
- With automatic pickup reminders, there is no worry of forgetting where you should be. GoKid will remind you when it’s your turn to drive or when it’s time to send your child out to join the carpool. And the shared family calendar means your kids can get notifications on their devices too!
- The app also includes in-app chat. Add notes and messages to your carpool trips so you can make sure every parent in the carpool is up-to-date on specifics for that drive.
Of course without friends, GoKid just won’t work for you. You can get started by asking trusted friends and parents, who you may already be carpooling with, if they would mind joining in. They can then download the app to get started.
Is GoKid Safe?
GoKid believes in carpool safety. Since you control your GoKid app, and the carpools for kids are by invitation only, you will have a network of reliable, vetted “friends” ready to drive. Many of these drivers will be people that you and your kids know and trust. Others can be added by referral if necessary.
Does this sound like something that can simplify your life? Are your kids busy? Is kids carpooling a bit of a headache for you? If so, head on over to the GoKid.mobi site for more information and to sign up and start a carpool.
