feel like I am stuck in a rut. It seems like I’ve been stuck in this rut for many years. While I’ve had my share of awesome opportunities, I’m sad to say that I have also missed out on a lot of opportunities that I would love to participate in. Why? A big part of it is the numbers game. My blog traffic and social numbers are not as big as some. And some brands will look at “big bloggers” first. So, when I was asked to participate in the challenge, I was all in! A chance to learn how to massively increase my traffic? Yes, please!
Sometimes even if we have good intentions to get stuff done we may need a push to get going. This is me! I am a procrastinator!!! It’s not on purpose. But, I usually have SO much that I want to get done that I have a hard time prioritizing. And, some things just keep getting moved to the end of the list. One of those things is updating my blog and pushing for better traffic!!
We always hear that promoting ourselves is hard. It’s so true! It’s a known fact that one of the biggest problems entrepreneurs is getting their awesome product in front of new customers. Each year, businesses start and fail because many business owners don’t understand this one essential skill: the art and science of getting consumers to find you.
Who is Russell Brunson?
I admit that I had not heard of Russell before being asked to participate in this campaign. So, who is he? Russell Brunson is a Best-Selling Author & CEO of a $100M software company called ClickFunnels. He has created a massive following that includes over a million entrepreneurs. He has already sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books and popularized the concept of sales funnels. So… this guy knows his stuff.
What is Traffic Secrets?
Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers, teaches us what it takes to identify our ideal customer. In my case, this would be my readers. I needed to identify who my readers are, the type of content that they are interested in, and how long they are staying on my site.
You learn valuable lessons by completing the 30-day challenge including key strategies to increase your site traffic. The book includes great facts, plus exercises that you can follow to implement what you learn. This includes learning how to find your Dream 100 customers. Where are they already hanging out on the web? What sites are they reading? What forums are they in? Once you have this information, you can use it to your advantage to get your content in front of the right eyes.
I admit that it was hard to focus on doing this challenge (or much of anything else) in full over the past couple of months. However, it definitely gave me a basis to start and a feeling of empowerment to come up with a plan. I’m thinking 2020 cannot get any worse now, right?? I mean, wow! But, since that Mayan calendar was wrong (again) I am looking forward to the rest of the year and recovering from this madness!
What is My Plan to Do Better?
I need to get back into a regular blogging schedule. I don’t have time to post as much as I used to. However, I want to post at least once a week. I need to grasp the fact that every post does not have to be the greatest post ever. It just needs to be useful content.
I realized what will really help that first point is writing about my interests and what I am actually doing. Yes, tech is still my thing. However, I’ve been working from home since March and spending more time at home in general. I have expanded what I enjoy doing, So, I will be creating content surrounding those things. That way, it’s not hard to come up with content.
I need to find my very best posts, the ones that get all of the traffic and make them even better. Even with posts that are doing well, it’s good to update them and make sure that all info is still relevant. And, it’s great to add links to your other content to these posts to keep readers on your site.
I need to SEO the heck out of every post from the start. I admit that sometimes when in a hurry, I will write a post, but not necessarily do the keyword research and optimize it as I should.
I will continue to go back through old posts. I’ve done some, but there are still over 1600 posts to go through. There is no way I could get it done all at once, so every now and then I pick 5 posts, check them for typos, add new keywords, add new images, create a pinnable image, and optimize the SEO. I still have a long way to go!
I feel confident that if I use this book to help me with some of my issues. I can succeed. The great thing about being a business right now is that there is a lot of great, useful info out there that we can take advantage of. And this is one of them.
