We have been in our home for almost 8 years. And decorating and updating is a constant job. You want your home to be a place that you love and enjoy living in. In this case, it’s important that you keep it looking nice and presentable over the years. But, unless you have unlimited time and funds, updating everything can take a while.
You may be a busy person who has put off many home improvements to your property. Now is a good time to sit back and gather some suggestions as to what you can do to make it better. Once you know what types of projects you want to tackle you can put them in priority order and come up with a budget for each. Here you can review some ideas and tips for updating and improving your property so you can fall back in love with it.
Upgrade the Master Bathroom
One of the most important rooms in your home is the master bathroom. Homeowners and homebuyers alike would agree that it’s an essential space in any home. It’s where you spend a lot of your time each day getting ready. You want it to be a welcoming and updated space that makes you feel happy and comfortable. Now is a good time to replace or paint an old vanity and update the hardware. You may also want to consider installing a new and larger shower and adding some additional storage solutions. Hanging a new mirrors and replacing the lighting is definitely on my list.
Focus on the Backyard
When the pandemic hit, this is what we focused on. We were home all of the time and couldn’t go on vacation, so we decided to fix up our backyard. Looking back now, it was worth the time and energy to focus on improving and updating the backyard. We got a fence, expanded the patio, built a fire pit, added a gazebo and greenhouse, and built the garden.
There are still a few more things that I want to do. One idea is to install a new hot tub. It would be great to relax after a long day in the garden. Of course that requires so upkeep, so I would probably go with using a professional hot tub cleaning services. You want to make sure that your hot tub is free from dirt, germs, and residue and is always ready to use. You may also want to install a pergola on your deck or patio for added shade and privacy. If you’re someone who likes working outdoors then you may also want to plant a garden that you can work in. Hang up some string lights and invest in a fire pit that you can use when the evening hours roll around.
Create A Relaxing Bedroom
You want to make sure you’re getting plenty of good sleep each night. This way you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle your to-do list. Over the past few months we finally got rid of the bedroom furniture that I had since 1998. It’s important to have a relaxing bedroom retreat that you can go to when it’s time to rest and fall asleep. I also got new lamps, new room darkening curtains, and new bedding. When doing your bedroom, you may also want to set up a reading nook with some small pieces of furniture to use when you want to relax and get lost in a good book.
Enhance the Lighting
A dark and dreary home can quickly drag down your mood and the look and feel of your home. Therefore, another idea and tip for updating and improving your property is to enhance the lighting. Ideally, you want to try to draw in as much natural light as possible during the daytime hours to illuminate your space and enjoy some sunlight. Consider installing a skylight in a dark area such as an upstairs bathroom. Put some lights on dimmer switches and layer your lighting in each room of your home. You should also be sure to put out plenty of lamps and candles that you can turn on and use to set the right mood and tone.
Replace Your Hot Water Tank
There are many issues that you may encounter with your water tank. For example, you may find that the water temperature is inconsistent, or that the tank is making a lot of noise. However, simply ignoring this issue will not make it go away – and it could mean that you find yourself without access to hot water when you need it most. As such, one of the easiest ways in which you can update and improve your property is by reaching out to a company that specializes in replacing or repairing hot water tanks.
While this may seem costly, it is something that you are bound to get a great ROI from moving forward, especially as it can add considerable value to your property, while also improving your enjoyment of your home.
These are just a few ideas that come to mind for now. Further down the line is finishing our basement. That will be a job!
