Why Does It Feel So Hard To Get A Good Night’s Sleep?!

What stops you from getting a good night’s sleep? For some this will be the sounds of the nighttime, with beeps of traffic, the creaking of the house, and the overbearing nature of silence being far too loud to try and sleep against!

Others may be battling some kind of sleep disorder, such as restless leg syndrome or insomnia. In cases like these, working with a doctor and/or sleep specialist can be very beneficial!

But sometimes you just can’t quite work out what’s going on. All you know is that you’re not getting much restful, quality sleep at all! If that’s the kind of situation you’re stuck in, here are some underlying reasons as to why many people find it hard to sleep properly at night.

You’re Not All That Tired

Let’s face it, when you hit the hay each night, are you actually feeling tired? Maybe there’s a slight lethargy behind your eyes, or you’ve been aching to put your feet up for hours, but are you actually, properly tired?

This is something to consider about your bedtime routine. Are you putting yourself to bed at a time when your brain and body are still quite alert? If this is the case, you’re going to need to rethink your usual routine, and maybe tweak the time you wake up to ensure you’re ready to fall asleep on time at the end of the day.

Your Brain Won’t ‘Turn Off’

Do you find it difficult to get your brain to simply stop firing thoughts and feelings at you at the end of the day? This can be hard for many people, and it’s the kind of thing that leaves people feeling overtired and exhausted simultaneously!

If your mental energy doesn’t quite align with your physical energy, trying to bring them both back into balance can help with falling asleep faster and staying asleep for longer.

This could require you to try out some activities that exercise your brain and body at the same time, or you could start using products from CBDistillery that contain melatonin, which is one of the main hormones that regulates sleep.

You Associate Your Bed with Other Things

It’s very common these days to slip into the bed sheets and immediately start scrolling on your phone, or playing a game, or reading a book.

Of course, reading a chapter of a book before bed can be quite good for winding down and getting into the mood for sleep. However, it can be part of the problem if you think of your bed as a place for something other than just getting a good night’s rest.

If your bed has become more of an all-round entertainment zone, you may want to cut out all other bed-related activities for a while and just focus on re-establishing your relationship with sleep.

Finding it hard to get a good night’s rest? Let’s consider why that might be! Use the ideas above to start the investigation.
