The Little Office Moments that Have a Big Impact

Little office moments might seem like nothing to an executive or CEO, but they can mean the world to the teams. Feeling valued and appreciated at work always drives growth and helps everyone do a better job. From rewarding hard work to more laughter, here are some examples.

Taking a Break with Colleagues

Optimizing the workplace and increasing productivity are two of the main concerns of a modern office. However, rather than cracking the whip, savvy bosses know that treating the staff with dignity is usually the better way to go. Small breaks as a team encourages positive thinking and leads to blue sky thinking when team members are relaxed. A vending machine refill service for the office cafeteria will keep the coffee flowing and the health snacks coming, to fuel ideas!

Recognizing and Rewarding Hard Work

When a worker does something well, makes a difference, and should be the pride of the office, always celebrate it! Meeting deadlines, completing assigned tasks, and saving the company a contract are good examples. When employees feel valued through rewards and recognition, it fuels a desire to work even harder and become loyal workers. It doesn’t have to be something big. A social media post, a newsletter mention, and even saying “well done” can be enough.

Fun Little Office Moments as a Team

A Gallup report found that 20% of office workers feel lonely, even though they are surrounded by colleagues. For some workers, colleagues are all they have to socialize with, but it’s not easy for everyone. Sure, you need to build an office team relevant to your fresh and young brand, and that might mean younger faces, but everyone should be included in team fun:

  • Invite remote workers doing a 15 hour work week into the office for some fun.
  • Team exercise classes such as office yoga helps workers relax and unwind.
  • Video games are a great way to include everyone in something competitive.
  • Planning local days out can give the office team something to look forward to.

Encouraged Laughter and Positivity

All too often, an office can feel more like a soulless slog than an actually functional and fun workspace. Gray walls, gray desks, and gray people are everywhere! But guess what? Those places have minimal productivity and workers who would rather be somewhere else. Okay, so an office is a place of work, but that doesn’t mean it has to be like taking a ticket in Beetlejuice! A positive atmosphere is more likely to impact better results than an uninspired workspace.

Communication and Respect for Others

Teams and individuals must get along at all levels. Simple respect for others, even through better communication, is a powerful motivator for most employees. When workers feel respected, they are more likely to show up on time, power through work, and leave feeling pleased with themselves. Listening to each other, helping solve each other’s problems, and treating each other fairly are small changes that will make a massive office difference.

Summary

Taking breaks together drives innovation and is one of the little office moments that can make a big difference. Of course, some office fun also encourages inclusivity and breaks the monotony. Any office should also foster an environment of respect for others through communication.
