Gift Guide: Coby Butterfly iPod Dock Review

Yes, it is that time. I have been reviewing a few products for inclusion in my 2010 Christmas Gift Guide. I will be doing individual posts on each items, and including a PDF version of the whole thing once all write-ups have been done.

The first item on the list is the Coby Butterfly CS-MP165 iPhone/iPod Speaker Dock.

The Coby Butterfly is the perfect Christmas gift for a teen that loves music, a college student with limited space for a stereo, or anyone else looking for an inexpensive way to use their iPod or iPhone as a stereo system. If they have either they can quickly plug in, grab the remote and control their music.

It’s also very attractive and can fit in with most decor. It is perfect for the kitchen, bedroom, or even to take with you for a portable party.

I was pleasantly surprised at the loud, rich sound. The chassis is very lightweight,  almost too lightweight, but it made up for that with the sound. A cool feature is the addition of a ambient light that can be adjusted with the remote control.

The only real thing that I am not that impressed by is the remote. Perhaps I just need a bit more time to play with it to figure out what I can and cannot do depending on whether or not the iPod Classic of my iPhone is plugged in.
