Otterbox Smartphone Case review

June 10, 2010 by Kris McDonald 1 Comment

Otterbox recently sent me a couple of awesome smartphone cases to be included in my gift guide (being added when I finish this post). I received one for my iPhone and one for a Blackberry Curve to try out.

First I will talk about the iPhone case since this is the one that I am actually using.  I received the iPhone 3G/3Gs Commuter TL Series Case. What I love most about this case is that it provides protection for all of the ports on my iPhone. If you read my blog, you know that I am a proponent against the exposed moisture sensors on the iPhone.

There is a translucent plastic shell that snaps over the silicone cover and holds it firmly in place. The case does not add much bulk to the phone and it still slips easily into my back pocket.

The case is available in 7 colors, black, blue, green, pink, red, white, and yellow. It will run you $29.95. Click here to purchase.

My contact at Otterbox told me that they are already working hard on creating cases for the new iPhone 4.

I also received a BlackBerry Curve 8520 and 8530 Commuter Strength Case. This is one tough case.  This case is a limited edition case featuring pink polycarbonate on white silicone. This case has the same great port protection as the iPhone case above.

This case was released for a good cause too: When you purchase the OtterBox Commuter Series “Strength” case for BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 & 8530, 10% of the purchase price will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Funding will support finding a cure for breast cancer and advancing access to care for all, regardless of ability to pay.

The Strength case can be purchased for $34.95. Click here to purchase.
