It seems as if summer just got started, but it is already time to start thinking about back to school planning. There is a lot involved in order to send your children back to school prepared. You will probably get a school supply list. Depending on your school, there may be a uniform list and a book list. And there are endless forms. Waiting until the last minute to prepare only causes more stress. As I have learned in years past, the back to school sales start early, and the items may go fast. Being a mother to 4 kids, it is honestly never too early for me to start. Each year I state that I am going to be more organized. This year is no exception.
As we prepare for back to school, I am teaching my kids to be more responsible and to protect their items. As someone who has experienced theft first hand in many ways, I know the importance of security around the home and beyond. School is no exception.
If your children use lockers in school, then they will need a reliable lock. The Master Lock 1500iD Wide Speed Dial Padlock is programmable. The 1500iD is the World’s first combination lock that opens on up/down/left/right directional movements. This makes it easy for kids to remember the combination.
When not using their lockers you still want your children to be protected when carrying a backpack around the school. My daughter had her cell phone stolen right from her book bag at her old school. The bag was hanging in her classroom. After some detective work, we did get it back, but I would rather not have to go through that again. This could have be prevented with a backpack lock. The Master Lock 1547DCM Backpack Lock hooks into the zipper loops of your backpack to deter thieves from easily accessing the pockets. It can also be used with luggage, computer bags, duffle bags, and more.
And if your child is a high school or college student that uses a laptop during school, library time, or in a public study area, they will need the Master Lock 2120DWD Computer Lock. This lock attaches to the lock slot on your laptop to securely lock it to a stationary item such as a table leg. It allows you to set Your Own WORD Combination for ease of use.
Even with these items, it is still important to talk to your kids about their personal safety. Make sure that they remember not to leave their items unattended. They should also be mindful of where they pull out your beloved gadgets. If you do not feel safe in your surroundings, it is probably not a good idea to pull out your beloved laptop.

I label everything with names and my phone number. I don’t put the address because we don’t want that ending up in the wrong hands! I also make sure that my kids don’t take anything super valuable with them to school in the first place.
