This past weekend my kids and I headed down to the beautiful new Maggie Daley Park in downtown Chicago to meet up with the ConAgra team, enjoy some lunch, and check out awesome ways to eat Snack Packs. Who doesn’t love pudding?
Maggie Daley Park
As the name states Maggie Daley Park was built to honor the late Maggie Daley, wife of former Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley. She was the first lady of Chicago for many, many years and made quite an impression the city. This park displays just how much. It is located right near the heart of Chicago, Millennium Park, so if you head down plan to spend several hours playing and seeing the sites. Although I had passed through before, this was the first time that I was able to bring my kids down to check it out. They had a blast.
If you are in the Chicago area and you have not been, you must go. There are tons of different slides, swings, bridges, rock walls, and more for both kids and adults to experience.
The Snack Pack
Snack Packs have been around for a long time and make a great addition to any child’s lunch. Made with real milk they are available in fudge chocolate, chocolate vanilla, vanilla, milk chocolate, and butterscotch. My kids love them all. Of course they each have their favorite.
The ConAgra Spoonful of Fun Snack Truck
The event setup included a lovely red food truck and a tent space with a few activities for the kids. Since it is indeed Chicago Mother Nature is often very unpredictable. When we arrived it was pouring rain and quite chilly. People were bundled up and huddling under the tents to keep out of the rain. Everything was all wet, so some of the activities were put on hold.
We were each given a cute red lunch bag that included a sandwich, Snack Pack, and a pamphlet with info on Snack Packs. Even though we couldn’t do some activities because of the weather, we still had fun. There was a photo station to take pics in several different silly costumes. There were a variety of stations set up with yummy toppings to fix up our Snack Pack treats. This provided lots of inspiration for back to school lunches. My kids had fun putting toppings on their pudding. You name, you can use it as a topping! Chocolate candies, nuts, raisins, gummy bears, gummy worms, or dried fruit all work. What combination would you come up with?
The rain did not last long, and after it was a beautiful day in Chicago. We stayed at the park a while longer, ate our sandwiches and snack packs, walked around Millennium Park, and took plenty of photos.
Let your kids have a little fun creating their own afterschool snack. Check out the Snack Pack website for more recipe ideas and other information.
