Although I am not a fan of the cold, I do love the fall. I love dressing in cute layers, wearing cute boots, and I love fall colors. And I also love shopping! Lately my favorite things to shop for are new items for my home. There is nothing more fun than decorating your new home after you finally move in. Although we’ve been in our home for 6 months now, things have been moving fairly slowly. I still have much decorating left to do. So, when I was asked to check out the At Home store and report on some fall trends and colors, I almost jumped for joy! A new store just opened up near me! Before, I had to drive all the way to Schaumburg, IL which is a 1 hour drive from my home. Now there is a brand new store only 25 minutes away! And it’s in Indiana, so that means lower taxes. Score!
Fall colors get their inspiration from the changes of nature. As green leaves turn to brilliant oranges, reds, and browns, we change over the decor in our homes to match. Fall colors are warm and inviting. Adding the colors of fall to your home decor brings the outside in and gets you in the mood for stews, soups, and fall entertaining.
In addition to fall trends, there is so much to see in the At Home store. Whether you are looking for bar stools, recliners, patio accessories, or wall art… it is all there. And it is all so tempting! We planned to go “just to look” at the new fall trends and colors. But… I knew that might not work out. After all, it is the At Home store! I went armed with $100 in At Home gift cards that I had saved from about a year ago, and budgeted another $100. I spent all of that and then some! And I’m totally fine with that. There were items that I just had to have!
We walked very slowly through the store. I would see one thing and then “Squirrel!”… I would see something else that I loved. I have to admit, I was not much in the mindset of fall colors since it was like 85 degrees outside when we visited. But, that changed once I got inside and saw all of the beautiful colors. I took plenty of photos of things that I want to go back for. Like these gorgeous fall themed candle goblets that will be perfect table decor at Thanksgiving.
There are also some stunning silver pumpkins that I must have for my fall decor. My living room/dining room color scheme is based on silver and gold.
I could not believe some of the reasonable finds! I have a thing for mirrors, and they have a ton!
I had been drooling over one of those 6 ft tall leaning mirrors that are the inspiration of all beautiful Pinterest worthy master bedrooms. I had not purchased one yet, because online they were $300 or more! In another one of my favorite stores, one that I liked was around $200, so I had been holding off. But at the At Home store??? I found a PERFECT one for only $79. I could not believe it! My husband gave me the “Do we really have to take this home?” look. “Why… yes. Yes we do!” LOL! This goes great with the side tables that I found at another store. Now we need the perfect arm chairs to complete our Master Bedroom sitting area.
I also picked up a gorgeous blingy (you know I love my bling!) lamp that now sits in our family room. It may get moved to the living room at some point. But I love it! Isn’t it gorgeous??
I also found the perfect picture frames to hold one of our wedding photos, and an outstanding portrait that our daughter drew.
The frames are both beautiful and well made. And they were less than half the price of comparable frames in a competitor store.
I also purchased some more dried branches, faux flowers, and other decorative greenery to fill the various vases around the house. These are great because I can mix and match the colors, or even add in real flowers depending on the season. But the best thing about the faux ones is that they do not need maintenance at all.
Very soon we will be decorating for Halloween. I think my kids and I are a bit over traditional Halloween decorating. I won’t be covering the whole house in spider webs, or putting scary moving scarecrows outside. However, I would still like to add some relevant touches around the house. In addition to the silver pumpkins mentioned above I will add these awesome orange ceramic pumpkins to my tables.
There are also some great outdoor friendly ones that will look great in front of the house nested next to my bushes.
And if you are into the scary stuff, these are fun!
Now that the At Home store is only 25 minutes away, I fear that I will be there too much. I was very impressed with the wide selection of products, and even more impressed at how much lower the prices were on some items than other stores. Once we decide on some color schemes and finally paint the walls, I will be back for some decor accessories. I see a couple of chairs on the website that are great contenders for our bedroom sitting area. I will need to go and check them out in person.
