I love a great smart watch! I’ve been blessed to have a few. However, when I saw that Michael Kors released one, I knew that I had to have it. As a matter of fact, I stood in Best Buy gazing at them and almost gave in just about 2 months ago. However, I knew that Christmas was coming, so I decided to wait. And my waiting paid off. Thanks to the Best Buy Blogger Network, I am now the giddy owner of a beautiful new gold Michael Kors Access Runway Smartwatch.
What Would I Need a Smartwatch?
Some people don’t wear a watch at all. And some think that smartwatches are unnecessary. But, I almost find them a necessity now.
A good smartwatch can make you more productive, and less distracted. What? Don’t believe me? Hear me out. I’ve been wearing a smartwatch for just about 5 years. A smartwatch allows me to immediately see notifications pushed from my phone. This means that with just a quick glance at my wrist I can see if it’s something that I need to act on immediately, or something that can wait. So, I’m not reaching for my phone after every alert noise. This means I’m not distracted by other things that I may see on my phone. There is less chance of me opening Facebook after I see who emailed me. And this is why it’s important to adjust your notifications. More on that in a moment.
As a business owner, my Michael Kors Access Runway watch keeps me connected to my business no matter where I am. Checking my email is very important to making money. If I don’t check my email several times a day, I might miss out on the perfect opportunity. Another of my side gigs also depends on getting notified and moving fast. By setting my MK Access to alert me from that app, I have less of a chance of missing out.

The Style
Can we just talk about the beauty of this watch? I received gold, but it is also available in rose gold. And they are both beautiful. With a 41mm face it is smaller than some other smartwatches and perfect for a woman’s smaller wrist. I did have to remove several links to get it to fit. This was made easy by a super cheap watch kit that I picked up years ago. It was a great $10 investment. 🙂
Since you can choose from so many Watch Faces, your style is up to you. Whether you prefer an analog look, or or a digital face, there are tons to choose from. I sometimes switch up my watch face depending on my outfit.
The watch is well made. I mean… it’s a Michael Kors. I own 3 other non-smart MK watches and the build quality is on par with those watches.
The watch includes 3 buttons. The middle button is the main button which allows you to access apps, or go back one screen. The top button displays watch version and support info, and open the Michael Kors Access app. From here you can change many features of the watch including day and night modes, saved looks, social media, or use My Next which helps you countdown to a big event.
The bottom button opens the health and fitness features. From here you can start a workout, check your heart rate, or start guided breathing exercises.
Accessing Notifications and Apps
Besides using the buttons mentioned above to access features of the watch, you can swipe. Swipe left to start a workout. Swipe up to access notifications sent from your phone. Swipe right to access Google Assistant features like weather, traffic, and more. Swipe down to access settings like airplane mode, power save mode, and do not disturb.
Swiping down also exposes a shortcut for Google Pay, and Find my Android, which will ring your phone if you are not sure where you left it. That’s pretty cool.
Changing Options
Although you can change many things from the watch itself, some options will be changed from your smartphone. During setup, you downloaded the WearOS app. Open it to access every setting and option available on your watch. From here you can change your watch face, adjust calendar settings, configure your Google Assistant, and more. But, let’s talk about notifications.
I do not recommend leaving the notification settings on default. Your watch will be buzzing all day and your battery will run out much faster. The battery is said to last for just under 24 hours. However, this depends on the settings. So far in my experience it runs our much faster than that. One of the huge factors is notifications. Go through the list and turn off things that you do not need to see on your watch. I disabled 130 notifications. Yikes!
Another one the can kill the battery is the always on screen. However, I do not care. I like it. LOL! Seriously though, if you need your battery to last all day, turn this off in your settings.
Using and Installing Apps
Your watch comes with several useful apps already installed. You can also install a number of apps directly to your watch to help you be more productive. On your MK Access Watch, hit the center button and scroll to Play Store. Here you will see several WearOS apps that are compatible with your phone. With the right apps, you will be able to accomplish a lot.
I’m still getting used to my Michael Kors Access Runway smartwatch. Although I have used WearOS watches in the past, every manufacturer implements their design a bit different, so some things may be in a different place. But I love it!
If you are looking to treat yourself to an absolutely beautiful smartwatch, or someone on your gift list would love, head on over to Best Buy and get one today. The Michael Kors Access Runway is available for $350, and worth every penny.
