Ugh! As excited as I usually am for a new year to start, this one go off to a rocky start! I'm sick! You may think, “so what?” But, this is kind of epic. I knew it had been a while. I have been very lucky. After some poking around through text messages and Facebook I determined that I have not been sick since February 2017! that is almost 2 years. Wow!
I have no real complaints about 2018 that come to mind. It was a pretty good year I think. Nothing too dramatic happened that I can remember, so that I guess that's good, right? Christmas was awesome! We hung out with the kids, had a good dinner, and watched my favorite Christmas movie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, if you were wondering. 🙂
On Saturday, December 29th, we attended our annual Whitney Young Dolphins Alumni Holiday Party. It is always a great time! I do admit that I was hoping since there had been quite a bit of hype about the school in the past couple of months thanks to Michelle Obama, that she might make a cameo. No such luck… Oh well. We partied hard as usual. We enjoyed the company of awesome Dolphins. We ate good, and enjoyed a couple of cocktails. And… we…. danced…. and…. danced…. and danced!
I was wearing my awesome new Freebird boots that I finally bought after letting the Facebook ad torment me for months. They started out very comfy… but then I danced too much! LORD!! When I tell you that I thought my feet and knees were going to fall off. I really did. It was a struggle getting across the street to the car after. I learned my lesson. I will never wear heels of any type again if dancing is involved.
I came home and promptly removed the boots and stuffed them out of site. Then I soaked in the tub. Ahhh!!!
On Sunday the 30th, I did my side gig which went fine. Then, I started feeling a little itch in my throat. I hoped that maybe I just needed water. But nope! On December 31, New Year's Eve, after making it 364 days without being sick in 2018… I was sick! Ugh!!
So, 2019 got off to a rocky start because 2018 decided to go out with a bang. I've been in the house sick all week. Not cool! I have stuff to do. I made a to do list for my 9-5 before the holidays of things that needed to be done this week. I was hoping to make it in yesterday, but I just couldn't. Luckily my boss is awesome and I was able to get him to do the most pressing thing for me. And of course I have quite a to do list for my home gig. Ugghhh!!!
Coughing, running nose, scratchy throat… I need it all to go away asap please.
Oh, and apparently there were a few people roaming around that alumni party spreading cooties. All over Facebook I see complaints from other attendees that they are now sick. I have counted at least 15 folks or so. Wow!
Listen, if you are sick… STAY.IN.THE.HOUSE!!! We do not need you coming out to share your germs with us.
So, I need a do over once this sickness passes. I am not declaring my 2019 as starting just yet.
I hope your 2019 is off to a great start!
