Summer is on its way, and it’s coming around faster than we think anyone thought that it would. We’re sure that it was only Christmas like five minutes ago, so where has summer come from? Despite the fact that it seems to have crept up on everyone, you still need to get ready for it when it comes to your home. You don’t want to go into the new season with issues from the last one still hanging over your head, so you need to make a few changes and get to work.
In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the things that you should do to be getting ready for the summer months. Now, they don’t have to all be done right now, but you do need to get around to them before summer greets us. Are you ready to get started? Great!
Deep Cleaning
The first thing that we’re going to suggest is that you get started deep cleaning. We know that for some people this is what nightmares are made of, but you will be so glad that you did it when your home is feeling fresh. Do you have any idea how much of a nuisance it is to find dirt and grime from the previous months when the sun is pouring through the windows? We’re not entirely sure what it is about this season, but it feels different and everything’s needs to be fresh for it.
The thing with deep cleaning is that it doesn’t have to all be done at once. If you don’t have the time or the energy to go through the whole home, then you can take it bit by bit. Do one or two rooms, then do another one or two tomorrow. Continue like that until it’s all done, and you should be absolutely fine! It will get done, don’t panic.
Decluttering
Next, we’re going to be talking about decluttering. This, again, feels like a nightmare task to so many but it doesn’t have to be. There are so many ways to make decluttering more fun, and one of them is to work out what you don’t want anymore so that you can sell it. Making money is always fun, right? You know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, so we’re sure that there is someone out there who wants some of your old items. As long as they are in good condition of course.
This is another one that you should take room by room. Just take your time with it, there is no rush to get it all done. Start early, and then you’ve got plenty of time to get this done.
Sort The HVAC
Pretty much all of these jobs are a pain in the behind, but none so more than this one. Sorting out the HVAC system can be difficult, but it’s got to be done. You need to clean it all, but to be honest you can hire certified air duct cleaning technicians to take care of this for you. Then, when it comes to making sure that it’s working, you’ve got to turn it on and just check it’s doing what it should be. If it’s not, make a quick call to your local techs and make an appointment for them to come and fix it.
If you don’t do this, you’re the one who is going to have to sit in a puddle of your own sweat when the sun is beating down.
Clean The Windows
Another thing you might want to do in preparation for summer is clean your windows. Over time your windows will become grubby and dusty so cleaning them is essential. The last thing you want to be doing is looking into or out of dirty windows. This can be a tricky job and unless you have the right tools then it can be easier to hire a window cleaner.
Head To The Garden
Finally, once you have finished all your spring cleaning jobs and tasks inside then head to your garden. You don’t want to have a nice looking interior if your garden is letting you down. Think about how you can improve this and make it look more appealing. With summer just around the corner you will want to spend as much time there as possible.
It might be a simple case of mowing the lawn and trimming back the plants so they aren’t so overgrown. If you are looking for a low maintenance garden then you can swap out your real grass for astro turf. Although this needs maintaining, it isn’t as arduous or time consuming.
